Our HeroesEvery so often, a person or organization really goes beyond the “call of duty” to help the My Stuff Bags Foundation and the children we serve. These individuals and organizations truly give of themselves to help make a difference in the lives of children rescued from abuse, neglect or abandonment.
While we are always grateful for every donation of funding or new children’s items – small or large, we’d like to highlight a few other recent contributors who have surprised us in amazing ways:
________________________________________________________________Hogwarts Running Club Donates $75,000 to My Stuff Bags! All of us at My Stuff Bags are crying tears of joy as we stand in awe and disbelief at the $75,000 donation we received today from @The Hogwarts Running Club Umbridge Run! Hogwarts Running Club is a charitable organization that organizes virtual running events inspired by the wizarding world designed to promote walking/running, provide unique and awesome medals, and, most importantly, raise money for deserving charities in order to accomplish their mission of changing the muggle-world one mile at a time. Brian Biggs, President and CEO, shared a touching story with us that we would like to share with you. He was filling us in on the response the members had in supporting My Stuff Bags and what we do. He mentioned several members visited their Great Hall chat room to talk about their experiences of being in foster care. One member shared that she had to cart all of her belongings around from placement to placement in a trash bag, which in turn made her feel like trash. She wished that My Stuff Bags had been around when she was in foster care. To Brian, Dawn and all the great, generous participants, we say a heartfelt thanks for this fabulous contribution which will put My Stuff Bags into the hands of so many deserving children. We are extremely fortunate to share the news about our “Hero” Jessica Hollins and her fabulous foundation, My Very Own Blanket. Starting My Very Own Blanket in 1999 out of her home, Jessica has helped grow and develop the organization in its 16 years to donate over 65,000 blankets to children in the foster care system in both Ohio and surrounding states! Since partnering with My Stuff Bags, My Very Own Blanket has graciously donated 700 handmade blankets to be included in our duffels filled with brand new belongings for children in crisis across the nation. These blankets will surely warm the heart of each child who receives them and give them something to smile about. Thank you Jessica, and all the wonderful blanket-makers for your heartfelt donation. We look forward to a very rewarding partnership with My Very Own Blanket.
